Installing a kitchen faucet can be a straightforward project for most people.
Gather the tools and materials: You'll need adjustable wrenches, screwdrivers, a bucket, plumber's tape, and possibly a basin wrench for tight spaces. Make sure you have the new faucet and any necessary parts, like an escutcheon plate for a three-hole sink.
Turn off the water supply: Locate the shut-off valves under your sink, typically near the wall, and turn them clockwise until they stop completely. Open the faucet handle to release any pressure in the lines.
Removing the old faucet:
Place a bucket under the connections to catch any dripping water.
Disconnect the water supply lines using adjustable wrenches. Be mindful of hot and cold lines.
Loosen the mounting hardware under the sink, which may involve nuts, brackets, or a mounting flange. You might need a basin wrench for tight spaces.
Carefully lift the old faucet out of the sink.
Clean the mounting surface around the faucet hole with a suitable cleaner.
Installing the new faucet:
Follow the faucet's instructions for specific assembly steps.
Place any necessary gaskets or escutcheon plates as instructed.
Feed the faucet supply lines through the hole(s) in the sink.
Attach the mounting hardware under the sink, following the faucet's instructions and ensuring a snug but not over-tightened fit.
Connect the water supply lines to the corresponding hot and cold valves, using plumber's tape on the threads for a secure seal. Tighten the connections with wrenches, but avoid over-tightening.
Turn on the water supply valves slowly, and check for leaks at all connections. Tighten any loose connections if necessary.
Test the faucet operation by turning on both hot and cold handles and checking for proper water flow and sprayer functionality, if applicable.
Additional tips:
If you're unsure about any step, consult the faucet's instructions or a professional plumber.
Take pictures of the plumbing configuration before disconnecting anything to help you reassemble it correctly.
Be careful not to over-tighten any connections, as this can damage the faucet or plumbing.
When working with plumbing, always ensure a good seal to prevent leaks.
Remember, if you're uncomfortable with any part of the process, it's always best to consult A & N Disposal to ensure a safe and proper installation.
